Alice in Pfasland: the artistic action of Rete Zero Pfas.
PRESS RELEASED JUNE 19, 2026
After the meeting with the Veneto Region, new data exposure on Pfas contamination
On June 16, 2026, Rete Zero Pfas Veneto met at Palazzo Ferro Fini with Manuela Lanzarin and Elisa De Berti, respectively presidents of the V^ and II^ Regional Council Commissions, to request the urgent establishment and activation of a technical table, which also includes formal and informal entities representing the communities affected by PFAS contamination in Veneto. It took place just one week before the action “Alice (Abramović) in Pfasland. A living sculpture” scheduled for June 27 in Venice.
An operation involving an informative performance “against the world’s largest contamination by forever chemical substances,” created and realized by Alberto Peruffo + Rete Zero Pfas Veneto in collaboration with the No Pfas Artistic Collectives: Pre-Historia Covo d’Artista, Progetto Terra Nostra, ife collective.
The unique artistic output will be celebrated in two phases: at 11:00 AM at Campo dell’Accademia, then moving to reach the Biennale Gardens (Viale Garibaldi) at 3:00 PM. During public performance, new data on food matrices, dust, and rain will be released to the press at 12:00 PM, along with comments on the recent study on wine.
Press Conference | Saturday, June 27, 12:00 PM, Campo della Carità, Venice
We invite the press and investigative journalists to the 12:00 PM press conference at Campo della Carità (near Ponte dell’Accademia). For the first time, new independent data on food matrices, dust, and rain will be disclosed, along with IRSA-CNR reports and first analytical comments on the very new wine study published by the University Ca’ Foscari in Venice.
“Alice (Abramović) in Pfasland. A living sculpture | Veneto: from “Wonderland” to “Pfasland”

The name Alice catapults the collective imagination into “Wonderland”: once upon a time there was Veneto, the “Lucky Land”. But across art, a vehicle of unruly truth and connection with what is hidden but real (the data), this action cause a semantic reversal: today Alice inhabits the “Land of PFAS,” because it is affected by one of most severe PFAS contaminations in the world, as certified by the United Nations in the 2021 PFAS Mission.
The artists with their bodies, their yellow banners bearing the black contamination symbol, their actions and presence become contemporary shamans, capable of making visible what is Not visible: the slow and gradual poisoning of our lands with colorless, odorless, tasteless substances, hidden from the senses, minimized by mainstream narratives. Nowadays, institutions have not made available and public the data on PFAS contamination in foodstuffs and have not yet carried out the PFAS analyses in presence in plant-based foods.
A collective artistic action under the sign of Marina Abramović and Käthe Kollwitz
It is a simple and deep artistic action, desired in Venice at two strategic locations — Campo della Carità at the Gallerie dell’Accademia and the tree-lined avenue leading to the Biennale Gardens — to create convergence between recent Biennale events and Marina Abramović’s work “The Hero,” to whom, the ongoing exhibition “Transforming Energy” at the Gallerie dell ’Accademia pays tribute. Starting from the heroism evoked by Abramović, the artists, dismounted from their horses and left the museums, will wave a banner to give shape and visibility to the environmental disaster of our lands.
Veneto is a silent and invisible battlefield in supposed times of peace, like the Battlefield in Käthe Kollwitz’s etching (1907), that narrates the struggle and suffering of lands and peasants in hostile times, a work assumed in this operation as an iconic symbol of those who fell due to the poisoning in the Land of PFAS.
It is a tiring artistic action due to the cognitive effort required by the public and a radical field engagement from the artists. This same effort is required by taking care of one’s territory, defending it, protecting it.
